Dr. Chan is a surgeon-scientist who is an expert in the area of improving skin appearance and function as a result of aging, burn and trauma. Dr. Chan received his undergraduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and graduated cum laude from Harvard Medical School with post-graduate education and board certification in General Surgery (Brigham and Women’s Hospital) as well as Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery (Harvard University Plastic Surgery Program). He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons (Canada).


Dr. Chan is currently Chief of Plastic Surgery at the United States Army Burn Center and Professor of Surgery, Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and at the University of Texas Health San Antonio (adjunct). He has committed his career to taking care of burn survivors with specialization in surgical treatment to improve quality of life.


In addition to clinical care, research and teaching, Dr. Chan is also president of STARS Plastic Surgery, a multi-surgeon group practice where he oversees day- to-day operations and specializes in cosmetic surgery of the face, breast, and body.
